  G5 Browser Crash

  Hi there all – new to forum & total newbie to Apple
  Have recently purchased this lovely (though aging) G5 in order to become familiar.
  Purchased from a company whom noted that it had never ran right from new – been tampered with by techs, had many parts replaced, OS reinstalled etc etc to no avail. They purchased an other and this one sat in a store room for yonks. Now I have it.
  I installed new ram 1Gb DDR400 after giving a thorough cleanout.
  Reset admin, rebuilt files and except for this small (but annoying) issue she runs real well.

  The problem: Total system crash whilst downloading via inet (dial-up) ??
  Initially thought it was Firefox so started using Seamonkey but had the same probs.
  Thought OK go to using Safari but still got it?
  At times I can surf and dload for quite a while before it pukes and other times it may be only a short period of time (I’m waiting for it again now – hehe) but when it happens there’s no option but to hit the big button (no response from KB or mice).
  I have tried looking at the logs but really am getting into new waters.
  Can swim a bit (run PCLos & Ubuntu as well as XP on other boxes)
  I can’t reinstall OSX as didn’t get the disc’s with puchase and as yet haven’t been able to do an update (186Mb on Dialup)
  Can anyone help lead me up the garden as to speak?

  Try deleting the SystemConfiguration folder found here
  Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

  Then restart the computer. Upon restarting the system will build a new SystemConfiguration folder.

  This folder contains some system preferences relating to internet connection.

  If the issue continues you may want to to try reinstalling the OS.

  There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
  Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!
