After a few days of working on a comp the entire program grinds to a slow pace with a delay for every action, including simply selecting keyframes. IT now takes me 3x longer to do anything and is frustrating. Any ideas why or what i can do about it? The project is 2.5MB and is all titles with some simple moves, glows and blurs. length is about 1:30. I’m on a G5 dual2G with 4GB ram. AE 6.5.1.

    Thanks,
    Todd

Any clues from your activity monitor? RAM usage? Processor usage?
Anything else running at the same time?
Does it work properly when you quit and restart AE, or if you shut down and restart the G5?
    OS version?
    Quicktime version?
Have you tried trashing the AE prefs?

I don’t recall exactly what the preference is called (“synchoronize” something), but it’s the one that allows you to see changes made in one comp update in others. For some reason, it seems this AE functionality doesn’t work very well on Macs…works fine on my PC, which is not as powerful as my work G5, but it severely bogs down AE on a very beefy G5 and gives me the spinning beachball constantly. I’ve gotten in the habit of turning it on only when needed while working on Macs.
