    Hi

The other day I was editing and inserted a CD that had a mov file on it which wouldn’t open and gave me the spinning wheel. When I did command+ alt+ esc finder was not responding so I clicked re-launch. When I did this my all my desktop items disappeared.

Also every single item is greyed out in the finder. I could still open them but its a bit odd that they are all greyed out.

I did trash prefs for the finder.
Restarted from install disk and repair permissions.
    Repaired permissions in safe mode.
Started it up in single user mode.
Logged in as different user and accesd the desktop but there was nothing.

But nothing worked the desktop is gone forever 🙁

    Any ideas?

PS: Please don’t reply saying why put things on desktop. Because we all do things we shouldn’t do sometimes.:)

Specs: OS X 10.4.9, 2X.2.66 Dual Core Intel.

Sounds like you need a appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store.

There is not much I can tell you to try if the finder is all grayed out like you say.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!
