  mac – windows file format and transfer question

  Hello,

  I’m about to purchase a macbook pro. I am a windows user and have been for years. I have a 15 gb .ts hd h.264 video file on my pc wich id like to transfer to an external drive and watch it using projection on the new mac.
  Isnt the external drive supposed to be fat32 formatted so that it can
  support both the pc and the mac platform ? And since fat32 allows only
  files copied to be less than 4gb in size, i am stuck not knowing what to do. You will probably tell me to use boothcamp and transfer the file unto an ntfs hard drive but i have heard that using windows under boothcamp does not allow the dvi-s video output to send video signals..

  Is there a program that will allow a mac formatted (HTFC ? )external hard disk drive to be recognized and used under xp ? HTFS is limitless like NTFS in file sizes, am i correct ?

  If you connect a NTSC drive to a mac, the mac will be able to read it and copy files from it, you just can’t copy files to it. The only drive format that can be read and written to by both windows and mac is fat32 and yes it has a 4 gb file limit.
