Cloaning System Disk
I have noticed my old G4 (10.3.9) has lost a lot of its spunk, especially since upgrading most of my Adobe software. Would there be any performance benefit if I completely erased my System Drive, but only after using Carbon Copy Cloner (or some other process) to make an exact disk image of my internal system HD and transferring it to an external FW drive? Then, after erasing the system drive, I would transfer the cloned disk back to the original internal drive. My thinking is that although the file is a clone, it will physically rewrite the original data in a defragmented way, and thus optimize the disk. Does his sound like too much work, or flawed logic? If so, what would you recommend doing?
