  WDS question

  Hi guys,

  Does anyone know if there’s a way to specify on a laptop which base station in a wds you connect to? I have an airport express (wds main) sending internet signal to an airport extreme (wds remote), which is backwards, but works.

  The express sends the internet signal to the extreme so I don’t have to use a cable. The extreme is connected directly to my g5 via ethernet, which is the only option I have avail if I want to use wireless-n speeds on a ppc within my home network.

  So, to reiterate, I’d like to be able to select the Extreme so that I get that “n” speed (which is WAY fast). The Express is just to supply internet to the Extreme (and my xbox 360, which doesn’t work with the extreme). Currently my macbooks don’t differentiate the express from the extreme in my wds setup.

  Since you are daisy chaining your extreme from your express you cannot use 802.11n. The set work is type can only be as fast as the fastest type in common between the two base stations, which in your case is 802.11g.

  Sorry it took so long to respond – you’re right. I thought for sure I was getting N speeds, but that was only when I was restarting the Express.

  I guess I either get another extreme or live with G.
