  x11 security issues?

  there are a couple of apps i’d like to run that require x11
  (openoffice, gimp). an admin once cautioned me about x11 in
  context of opening up security holes. is this something i
  really need to worry about? if so, what do i need to do to
  secure the operating environment when using x11?
