I have a 300gb Maxtor drive in an external enclosure. When I try to format it disk utility only allows 128gb, Whats up with that? I’ve done a search but have yet to find something.
    thanks,
    John

    Hey John,
Some of the early external enclosures used a chipset that could only address 128gb. I have a couple of them still. Your Maxtor in a newer enclosure should initialize at the full 300gb.

Yes, I just did another search on the forum and got the scoop. Its an ADS Pyro enclosure, we’re searching to see if there’s an update available for it. Otherwise I will put it in my MDD dual 1.25. I just hate seeing all that storage going to waste.
    thanks,
    John
