HELP! Disk Utility can
Before I go into detail…
in a nutshell, my problem is that I am running Apple Disk Utility -booting from the Panther Install Disk 1 – on my main hard drive and the Verify Permissions step is stopping in the middle, claiming“Disk Utility Internal Error: Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility”.
Relaunching has not changed anything, it is still not verifying completelly.
Now to the context:
I recently upgraded this G4 867 MHz (512 MB RAM) from Jaguar to Panther. First, 10.3.4 was installed, then I did the combined online upgrade to 10.3.9 as well as the Pro Application Support upgrade.BEFORE I did these upgrades, I had installed FCP HD 4.5 and it seemed to be running fine. Then, I set the computer to overnight upgrade to 10.3.9 and Pro Applicaiton Support. When I came in the next day, Final Cut was not opening, just “unnexpectedly quitting” as soon as I double clicked the icon. I did a manual UNinstall of FCP, by deleting all folders I could find related to FCP (although, in retrospect, I am aware that I didn
