This is a public service announcement:

For those of you who are using iTunes 6.0.2 and get the following error message when trying to repair permissions using Apple’s Disk Utility:

“Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool & cannot continue. Please quit & relaunch Disk Utility.”

There is a conflict with Disk Utility and iTunes 6.0.2. I suspect it has to do with a new iTunes process that runs in the background called “iTunesHelper”. You need to trash this version of iTunes and revert to iTunes 6.0.1.

It worked for me. FWIW the problem was on my older G4 dual 800 running OS 10.3.4. Luckily my 2.7 G5 was still using iTunes 6.0.1.

I had the same problem. I read a article someone left about MacFixIt.com about this same issue.
He went about it a bit differently, he kept iTunes 6.0.2 & deleted the Chess Game that comes with the OS & that fixed the same issue.
Not Sure how or why, but I tried it & it works, plus I don’t play Chess.
