    Just discovered that Tiger cannot connect to a pre-OSX computer using filesharing. I have a couple of ProTools suites running on G4’s with OS 9.2.2. My video paltform is running Tiger 10.4.1. The other machines could see and connect to the Tiger machine, but not the other way around.

    Anyway, if anyone else is having this problem, here is the simple solution:

    Activate Shareway IP which came bundled with OS 9 and add it to the Startup Items on the OS 9 machine. I found the software located inside of the Extensions (Disabled) folder on the older machines. Once you launch it, it will run in the background and you’ll never have to worry about it. Tiger will then be able to connect to the older OS without a hitch (at least so far…)
