  Fast Burning Drives

  I have a dual 2.0 which I bought in late 2003. The SuperDrive is a 4X drive. Does this mean I should only burn 4X DVDs in it? If I buy 8X or 16X DVDs, they won’t burn any faster, I’m assuming, so it logically would be a waste of money. Any one know this answer? Thanks very much. – Rob

  No, it doesn’t mean that only 4x media will work, just that any media will only work at 4x (that might be rated at 8x, etc)

  From everything I’ve read and heard recently, burning DVDs at anything faster than 1X will increase your chances of them not being playable in a wide variety of players. Unfortunately for me, I found this out after purchasing an additional drive for my MDD G4, capable of burning at 16X… an unecessary waste of $.
