  Masking in After Effects

  Hi all,
  been using After Effects for awhile but still exploring it’s more various advanced features.

  Does anyone know how to create smoooooth masking?
  I have a flat vector trace of an ornate vine that I want to animate so that it appears to be growing… but no matter how carefully I place nodes it still reveals rather chunkily – and the unmasking progression is obvious.

  Any secrets to make things reveal/unmask in a seamless manner?
