  • How do you copy layer markers in AE 6.5?

Hi! I’m working thru a tutorial in Creating Motion Graphics vol 2 by Chris and Trish Meyer (chapter 6 example 18) where they have tapped out layer markers in time with a soundtrack. There are about ten layers in the comp, and each layer shows the same time markers. Each layer has a single word on it. Each layer has an expression that makes the text position and scale jump when it crosses a time layer. In other words, each layer has to have the layer markers on it to drive the expressions. Does anybody know how to copy and paste layer markers from one layer to another? I don’t think the solution is duplicating the first layer because the sound icon doesn’t show up on the subsequent layers; just the layer markers. There are no precomps. I’m stumped.

Don’t have the book handy, but I think they just duplicated the layer a bunch of times and turned the audio off. You cannot really copy and paste layer markers.

    Hi,

I don’t know a way to copy layer markers, but they are set to every selected layer. Just select all the five or twenty layers you need markers on before you set them. If you have to copy the markers from one to five other layers you can do that at least in one step.
