3D Text in After Effects, best method?
Hello All,
I’d like to create 3d Text along in a video, located on the shoulder of a highway. The text will be standing up and off the ground, tilted slightly back for legibility. A similar picture to what I’m looking for might be this https://photoblog.endlessnl.com/images/20070530203054_highway_by_night.jpgNow its a long phrase and what happens coming down to the further spectrum of the image is that the writing starts to look pix-elated and thus hard to read. I was recommended doing the text as a 3d object as this is how it is done in a shown called ‘Fringe’ and the thickness of the word helps the legibility. However, I’d like to know what would be the best way for me to create this 3d word using the Adobe suite and using it in After Effects afterwards?

I’d like it to have 3d depth. But if it can have the perceived thickness of 3d in a 2d plane then we can work with that.
However, my graphic artist has tried to duplicate the words and for some strange reason its not moving along a single axis when he moves it via the X Y or Z only, thus he says it is causing complications for him to accurately move the duplications behind the previous text and it ends up looking like a broken outline with an even more pixelated look.
Please advise.

I’m not sure what your initial issue is or your new issue. Where is this text appearing pixelly? AE text shouldn’t ever look pixelly.
Also, what does your designer mean by not being able to push the text around?Here are some ways to get 3d text in AE. They may help you get the problem solved.

You could try using PFHOE for your text, here’s a tut explaining this.

Use of the shatter plugin with a composition.
However, I am very interested in what was posted by rod as that will have a great benefit in camera movement shots (right now the shots we are using have no pans, zooms or tilts).
