  Canon GL2 with MA-300 adapter – audio static

  Hey fellas… I’ve been dealing with an ongoing issue for about three years. The problem is that sometimes there is suddenly static in my recordings. Here’s my set up:

  Canon GL2 on a stationary tripod (doesn’t move)
  MA-200 Adapter with XLR input to a Sure Wireliess mic set
  Lapel mic and receiver on me at a whiteboard with minimal moving
  Lapel is positioned away from any clothing and doesn’t rub anything

  Static is sporadic. May film 2 tapes and nothing. Then suddenly there’s static intermittently during a record (heard when played back in VCR mode or after uploaded to final cut).

  Things I’ve tried:
  Threw away a set Sure set up and tried a second one.
  Moved to a new location to film.
  Had my Canon GL2 serviced (tune up)

  I’ve about given up. I have no idea what else to try. I never know when it’s going to happen. And sometimes that means I have to film sections of a tape twice.

  Any suggestions or help would be GREATLY appreciated!

  I have just wandered by your post as Ive been seeking advice about a camera here, but me real day job is pro audio!.
  1) Can you post a bit
  2) Id repost your question on the Audio professionals cow list, where you will find a lot of experience and people familiar with your kit etc.
  You should add the
  audio sample.
  Where you are located and
  what frequencies you have been using
  what connections are on the camera etc etc.

  Hi Matt,

  You have a Canon GL2, WOW! I have one also but, I retired mine for a Canon 5D Mark lll. The Canon GL2 produced me some good footage. It was time for me to move onto newer equipment. Try to post some audio so we can hear what is going on.
