  Does the XA-10 get a better image than the Panasonic HMC-150?

  So, I’m likely selling my Panasonic HMC150. I’ve been using my Canon XA10 more and more lately. I gotta admit: when i watch it on my computer (admittedly, not a professional monitor) I find the XA10 image better. That said, I spoke to B&H recently and the guy there told me that, unequivocally, the 3 chip HMC-150 will capture the better image than the 1 chip XA10.

  Am i crazy? Is it possible the XA-10, solely in terms of image quality, is the better camera?

  While I have not used the Panasonic HMC150 I would be inclined to a agree with the B&H sales rep. I’ve used the XA10 and was not impressed when comparing it to the old school SD Canon GL2 or XL1(both 3 CCD camera). The XA10 did not look as sharp nor did it have as rich a color depth to me.

  Of course the size of the sensors matter but all else being equal a 3 chip (CMOS or CCD) should perform better than a single chip camera due to the information it can receive.
