  adding sound to existing footage on HFS100

  I have a Canon HFS100. I am shooting footage outside and want to add a voice-over to the video inside using an external mic. Can I do that directly to the camcorder or does it need to be done using my editing software? The editing software I use is Studio 8 which works fine after Cineform converts the AVCHD format.
