    Hi,

we recorded a video on a Canon 1d mark 4 on a memory card that has been previously used in a Canon 5D mark II and hasn’t been formatted when we switched cameras….

On the Canon 1d we recorded 720p video at 50fps…. But we cannot open the file on the memory card. It recorded the video (It’s 4 gb in size) but when we try to ope it is says: ‘The file is not a movie file’.

Is there any way of recovering the recorded video??

    Thanks!

AH, well try it obviously in the 5D mark II, may work. If it is a Sandisk https://www.sandisk.com they provide a Rescue Service disk or check on line ? Or use a Card reader which is a recommendation from Sandisk. I would not stuff around and re-shoot if you can. We always use a Canon HV 20/30/40 for back up on important material.
