  XH-A1 tape recording problems

  I’m sure this is super simple, but not even google was able to help me out. I’ve got a canon xh-a1 and we record all the time via firewire, but we have a special event coming up that we need to record tape and for the life of me I can’t figure it out. I put it in tape mode, put the tape in, but all I got on the LCD and eyepiece is the tv test scree, with all the color bars and such. It records to the tape, but records the test screen. Any help?

  umm… did you try switching the switch from bars to camera on the side?
