  New Canon Pro Tapeless Camera

  I just found out today that Canon announced the codec that their soon to be announced pro tapless cameras will use – MPEG2, 50Mbps, 4:2:2. Very interesting.

  Thanks for posting! When their video and still camera departments merge into one, we will all be much happier. I’d love the 7D with a 4:2;2 color space – or at least be able to record uncompressed to a Ki Pro.

  By the way, was that interview kind of weird with the interviewer running sound, 2 cameras, and holding a mic? Considering that he wasn’t zooming or moving the camera in any way, was it just so he could be seen using equipment? I think he should have used his 5D to shoot, and then 10 minutes in stop the Canon guy (when the 5D hits its recording limit) so that he could restart the recording. What a very subtle way to express the need for longer than 10 minute record times…
