  What new HD cam compares close to the HV30/hV20

  I have a canon GL1, and want to move away from DV tapes. I have liked all the Hv30 reviews, good in low light, 24p, manual focus,cini mode and great quality, but I don’t want to mess with tapes. I edit on Adobe Premiere,work on budget movies, and I am looking for a camera (around 1000 or under) to match the same quality as HV30 but with AVCHD. I noticed Canon has some new HD Cams out, how do they compare to the HV30/HV20 in compression quality. I am hoping the technology is getting better with AVCHD and that it looks as good as DV tape. But I will settle for something close.
