  Buying my first camera

  Hi there,

  I’m looking to buy my first camera. I’m looking for something fairly versatile and I’ve read good reviews about the Canon XL2.

  I do a little bit of everything: documentaries to more contrived/controlled setups for music videos and commercials.

  What do you guys recommend for as a good, reliable camera, somewhere around the $2000 range? Are there any major issues/drawbacks with the XL2?

  Also thinking about the Sony Z1U, and Panasonic AG-HVX200.
