I am trying to record video SIGNAL from BetacamSP / Digibeta tapes to a CANON XH-A1. I am connecting the deck (a Sony HDW-1800) to the cam via composite out using a coax rca-cable with bnc adapters into the cams video2 input. Audio is connected to the xlr terminals on the camera. I am able to hear sound from the deck in Automatic camera mode, but in vcr/play-mode, …nothing.

    what’s wrong with my setup?
    are there any compability issues?

need to fix this problem before tuesday:o

If this is like most DV camcorders with A/V inputs,
you need to connect the audio to the RCA jacks (might even normally be the audio outputs) on the camcorder, not the XLR inputs.

The XLR inputs are only active in “camera” mode.
