Sony HVR V1E vs Canon XL1
I was going to hire a Canon XL1 for shooting a music promo, mainly because it’s what I have experience in using. However, the place I am hiring equipment from is now saying I won’t be able to have the Canon, so they will give me the next camera up on their rate card for the same price. The camera I believe I will get is the Sony HVR V1E. I wasn’t planing to shoot in HD (obviously, as I was wanting the Canon XL1) and I have never used a camera with HD facility before. I’m assuming that the Sony will record in SD as well as HD. Is this the case? Also, will the Sony be fairly easy for me to use compared to the Canon? I’ve got the Sony this weekend to practice some shots before the actual shoot – any thing I need to know?
