  Using XH A1 HDV down convert to standard

  I am trying to convert my HDV footage to Standard on to the Mac computer using FCP 6. I looked on the manual pg 109 and did the set up. I have it on VCR mode and going through the menu. When I plugged the firewire cable into the camera both the PLAYBACK STD and HD DOWN_CONV grayed out and was not able to use the function. I unpluged the firewire cable and it showed up and was able to modify it. Not sure what I missing here. It also did the same thing on my other computer a PC.

  You make your settings after you disconnect the firewire cable & then reconnect it. Voila!

  Stupid design, but it is what it is.

  FYI, the down-converted output signal will always be 60 fps interlaced (29.97), regardless of the frame rate of the original recording.
