    Hi Gang…

Has anyone come up with any better viewfinder options for the XLH1? The stock finder is just so ineffective for HD work, and pinpoint accurate focusing is quite difficult (we use the XLH1 married with the P+S Technik Mini35 converter and Leitz PL mount superspeed cine lenses).

A good solution would be either a little Astro LCD HD monitor, or the Accuscene viewfinder, but they are both so expensive (over $5K for the Astro, and WELL over $10K for the Accuscene).

I’m definitely looking for something a bit more affordable, but still good enough for HD focusing.

    Thanks!

True HD monitoring is expensive regardless of what brand of camera you are using. Well, you may consider the Tamuz line of portable HD-SDI monitor. I saw one earlier this year, it was approximately 7-8″ wide and it had multiple HD-SDI inputs on the back. It performed quite well with the XL H1. Can’t remember which model it was, but price was aropund $3,500. I really wanted to take it home with me.

    Thanks Don…

Yep that’s true, there’s no such thing as CHEAP HD monitoring, but I don’t want to have to give them a kidney as well.

I checked out those Tamuz monitors, could be promising, will investigate further. The price is certainly much better than any other options I’ve seen so far.
