Why is it when I shoot in LP mode with the Canon XL-2 and place the mini dv into the DV CAM to play back that the audio does not play and the video goes in and out and it seems like the heads are dirty when not? Then I shoot in SP and it plays back fine. What is the reason behind this? Thanks

    Mark,

Shooting in LP mode is generally considered to be very unreliable and you will be asking for trouble if you do. Always shoot in SP mode for the best compatability with other cameras/decks and editing systems. If you need the capability of shooting continuously for longer periods of time, then buy 83 minute tapes instead of the 60s, which are available at broadcast supply retailers.
