We are adding another graphics suite and are looking at the best graphics cards.

There was a thread last week mentioning the ATI Radeon 9600/9700/9800 and NVideo GeForce FX 5200.

Has anyone had any luck (good or bad) with the ATI Fire GL X Series cards on a Windows platform?

A good 1st-gen Open GL video card will help when using the “Open GL preview” but I find the implementation a bit buggy.

I’m currently working w) a new dual-core AMD machine from BOXX (dual-proc, dual-core) and it’s very fast. But I find I still work with proxies and other time-savers as I did with my older machine, old habits die hard I guess.

AE will benefit most from gross CPU horsepower and RAM. I’d bet that the same holds true for Avid, but I’m a Vegas guy.
