    Help!

I had a bunch of HD clips sent to me that used the xdv2 codec, and After Effects CS4 will not read them. I have an older version of FCP, so I’m thinking that is the problem. I don’t want to shell out the 1k for new FCP until I exhaust all other options. I also cannot view .mov files encoded with the HDV2 codec.

This is an urgent matter – thanks in advance for the quick response.

i believe that is one of the xdcam variants (maybe the 1080i60, 35mb/s, but i’m not sure).

the xdcam codecs do come with fcp7 (they might actually be part of the 7.0.1 update), but if you can get the latest applempeg-2codec.component and put it in library/quicktime you should be able to read the files in any quicktime based application, accept maybe quicktime x (haha).

since it is most likely a fcp codec, you might try posting in the fcp forum, they may be able to give you more info, or options to convert those files…

Hmm…20 bucks later, it didn’t work. I will repost in FCP forum. Thanks anyhow.
