  DVD Studio Pro – Best quality settings

  Hi all. I am very confused. I am trying to get my fcp project onto a dvd at the best possible quality. I have exported it as a quicktime movie (self contained & not self contained). When I use iDVD, the quality is superb (but I don’t want the menus and music etc. Nor do I want to loop it). But when I used DVD Studio Pro, even though I believe that I have set the encoding preferences correctly and have read/watched the tutorials, the end product is inferior. Does anybody have any views on this? Many thanks, Katie

  Are you encoding in DVDSP or in Compressor. And what sort of codec are you exporting out of FCP?

  When I export from FCP as self contained movie, I use current settings as default. Now I can only find Sequence and Capture presets and these are DVPAL 48 kh. How would I find export settings?

  When I export from FCP via Quicktime Conversion, I have tried both h264 and apple pro res 422.

  I hope this gives you a clue.

  Start with ProRes- then follow your manual for encoding to MPEG2.
