  • Resolution and codec question

I’m starting in on a documentary and I would like to make it available on DVD. What resolution and codec should I be working in to maintain the highest quality in the final product?

bryce,to answer this, you might give us a bit more informations what should happen with your documentary.

    – which cam do you use for your shoots
    – will it go to cinema
    – will there be a BD
    – what is your budget
    – on what kind of system will it be edited
    – will it be a PAL or NTSC-DVD

in general you could say: higher quality input will bring better quality in your output.

so you might go uncompressed 8bit or maybe apple pro res HQ or 444 depending on your workflow.

maybe you´ll have a offline/online HD-2K or 4K-edit with a big color-correction, so you might give us a bit more informations.

    cheers
