  • Interlacing artifacts on a progressively shot and compressed dvd

    Another dvd issue.

On a dvd shot as DVCPro 30p progressive hd, and then exported from final cut as a motion jpeg or jpeg100 file that can then be compressed through cinema craft to an m2v file I am seeing some subtle interlacing artifacts when played on a digital tv or on a mac. Basically as the person in frame moves their head through the frame the details of his eyes seem to be moving through interlacing lines.

The strange thing is when I go into the DVD player on my macpro tower and go to View>Deinterlace>disable deinterlacing this problem is apparently “fixed”. My problem is I want this artifacting to not be present without having to ask people buying this product to have to go in and click odd settings in their dvd player.

Does dvd studio pro have some setting to identify materials as progressive to different players?
