I shot a wedding in HD on MiniDV tape at 1080i on a Sony FX-7 camera. Now the bride would like those tapes converted straight to DVD.

The problem is Costco and Ritz camera don’t have the capabilities to convert HD media to dvd. If I shot it in standard def then it would be no problem.

I’m trying to help them out as they are out of state and far away from me.

    Thanks!

Do they even have a HDV camera or deck to play them back? They maybe labeled as MiniDV but you shot HDV so they need that for playback. If they have that they can get a DVD-Record, and most cameras will downconvert the video to SD and they can record off of that.

    Thanks for the reply!

They thought they had the right camera to do it themselves but they were wrong. They have an older MiniDv camera but it can’t read these tapes because of the HD recording (which is what they wanted).

there is no trick here, they need to send the tapes back to one or do a google search to find someone that does this service.
