    Hi –
I am trying to make a DVD from a FCP project.
I am working with FCP 6 and Snow Leopard.
The project was shot in HD.
Previously, when I was working in Leopard,my work flow was the same and I was able to make DVDs.

Now DVD Studio Pro tells me I have successfully burned the disc, but it will not play.

    Can anyone help?

    This is my process:
My sequence settings in FCP match the format of the original clips. In this case they are 1280 x 720 HDTV (16:9)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio – Square
    Field Dominance – None
Quicktime Video Settings – XDCAM EX 720p30

I export the sequence using compressor. I have tried using various Apple DVD settings: DVD Best Quality (various durations) and DVD: Fastest Encode (various durations).

I import my assets into DVD STUDIO Pro.
They are AC3 Audio and MPEG-2 Video.

I drag them to the timeline.
I chose First Play from the Track folder.
All looks fine when I simulate the sequence.

I burn the Disc. It is “successful.” But, the DVD will not play in a any computer other than mine nor in a stand alone DVD player.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Like everyone else that asked this question, you have made a HD DVD, you have to reauthor the project as a SD DVD. Even if you assets have been downconverted to SD if you choose (by choice or accident) HD DVD it will only play in an Intel Mac or the discontinued HD DVD players.

I did read that on another post.
Where do I have the choice to make my assets SD?
    Thanks.

You encode your SD assets in Compressor, then bring them into DVDSP. Make sure your go to preference and are making an SD DVD and author away.

Where in Compressor do I chose SD?
I have been using the Apple DVD Settings, not their HD DVD srtting.

Once in DVDSP, I have chosen SD in my preferences for the project.

Sometimes I can make the DVD and it won’t play in anything other than my computer.

Other times I get a message saying that in my build I have HVDVD_TS and I must remove them.
    How do I do this?

    thanks

As far as I can tell, everything is set to SD.
I chose the DVD settings in Compressor, not the HD DVD settings.
(I am chosing from the Apple DVD options)

I import the assets into DVDSP and when I try to burn, I get a message saying that in my build I have HVDVD_TS and I must remove them.
    How do I do this?

    thanks for your help

Once again, it is not your assets it is your DVD that is set to HD DVD. You need to reauthor the project as a SD DVD.

I know you have written about this and I have read a bunch of your other notes and I am sorry to be so dense, but I do not know how to set my DVD to SD.

In DVDSP, I have selected SD in preferences. It has been this way the whole time.

What else do I need to do?

To remove that folder you go to the location in the finder and delete it. Or make another folder for your build location.
