What printer works with Verbatim Dual Layer Thermal?
Hello there,
I bought some Verbatim Dual Layer which are labeled as compatible with “inkjet” and “thermal.”
I think it is the Thermal part that is not compatible with my old Epson R200.They definitely don’t absorb the ink from the Epson.
So Thermal is another “type of inkjet printer ?” I need something that works with Verbatim Dual Layer as
this seems to be one of the only dual layer that is printable.What the heck does the thermal refer to?

Al – the thermal refers to thermal retransfer printers. These printers use a thermal heater to transfer ribbon, usually either CMY or black, to a clear ribbon, and then directly to the surface of the disc. Some types that only use one color will transfer that color directly to the disc without the clear ribbon in between.
This is thermal ribbon and not toner.

I have only used the thermal, so I am not super familiar with the inkjet part numbers, but these look like they are inkjet only:

I ended up sticking with dedicated thermal ones. It’s like they try to make they compatible with both, but end up not working well with either! Go figure!

I have had the Primera version of these small Thermal printers for some time. Mine has worked and is still working. However, there are no drivers for Windows Vista or Windows 7 anywhere to be found.
XP only. When my XP computer blew up at home I took the printer to work where I still use it. You have to make sure that you use the blank media for Thermal only…not inkjet. They need to have the very slick shiny surface. It uses single color ribbons that run about $20 to replace.John Watts

B&H didn’t know the difference when they sold them to me…
the thermal require a special thermal printer as I understand your info.But I have an inkjet regular ….
And I see the Primera makes no mention of being compatible with Mac….
Dual layer is “dual difficult.”
