Activity Forums DVD Authoring Scanned & Cropped image size for slideshow

  • Scanned & Cropped image size for slideshow

Hi. This is a very basic question, but as I’m scanning my photos to create a slideshow, I’m considering what size I need to crop my images. I’d like to apply a Ken Burns Effect to some of the images, so that makes me wonder if I need to crop these larger than 720 x 480.

Also, is 72 dpi high enough quality?

    Thanks!

If you are putting pans and zooms on your slides, you are no longer in the realm of a DVD slideshow. You are creating video media just as one would in any edit session.

The exact specs for scanning the slides depends on the specific requirements of the tool you are using to do the moves, whether than be Avid Pan & Zoom, Boris, After Effects or something else. The general rule is the larger the scan, the more you have room to play with it.
