I author DVDs using DVD Studio Pro at a commercial postproduction house. Currently, I use a Sonic DVD Creator hardware encoder to pull Mpeg 2s from digibeta. However, it would be faster to eliminate the steps of laying off a spot to tape from a Smoke or Flame and encoding it using the Sonic DVD creator. Rather, I would like to see if there is a way to have the Smoke or Flame export an Mpeg 2 of high quality and bring it in to DVD Studio Pro and make a DVD from that.

We have experimented with this, and continue to encounter field dominance issues. For some reason, these issues occur regardless of the preferences I set in DVD Studio Pro. We are using the “DVD” profile in our Cleaner, so I doubt the problem is there.

Does somebody use a Smoke-or-Flame-to-DVD-Studio-Pro workflow? If so, how does it work?

    Thanks!
