DVD Replicated disks stop playing
Hello,
We just paid a replicator to create 1000 DVDs of our latest project. After receiving the replicated disks we did a little quality control check and found that there is a playback problem in one area of the show. On several old DVD players the program actually stops playing. On some newer players the program plays fine all the way through. We do not see any problems with our encode in the DVD Studio Pro simulator or on a backup DVD-R master that we have.
Can we assume that this is a problem of the replicator facility?
To what extent should we expect a glass-mastered (replicated) disk to be error-free?
They tell us that our master disk passed all of the qaulity control checks before they replicated it. And they also say that they cannot see any problems with the bad disks that we sent back to them. However the fact remains that there IS an identifiable playback problem that exists when played back on several differnt DVD players that we have. Should we accept these disks or be more firm in demanding a solution from them?
Thanks for your input,
Sterling
