  G5 Purchase Decision

  Hello,

  We have just found out we have some money we have to spend before our year end,
  and I’m pushing for a new G5. It will be used primarily for AE, and Apple Motion.
  If you could buy any model, which one would you get?
  I was just wondering if there were any issues with the new dual 2.7 ghz models
  in relation to AE or Motion.

  I’d also like to know if anyone could recomend the best video card as we will be using it for Motion.

  Some Motion benchmarks:

  (I think the top graphics card on site #2 should be a 9800, not 9600)

  The benchmarks may not be up-to-date, but they indicate that you will benefit from the fastest processor, best graphics card, and most RAM you can get. I’m getting the ATI X800, because it has good reviews and only takes up one slot.

  AE isn’t nearly as picky as Motion.

  Haven’t heard any issues with the new G5.

  I spoke to my boss and he says we can swing a dual 2.7 loaded for bear! 🙂
