  • Which encoder to use?

Posted by Steven Free on June 20, 2006 at 5:35 pm

I’m wondering what’s a great encoder to use for exporting my timeline
out of Premiere to take to a DVD Authoring program? I’m currently
using the standard Adobe MPEG Encoder from Premiere at the bitrate
suggested by the videohelp website, but after burning my DVD from the
DVD authoring program “DVD Lab” the quality of the video is nasty when watching in on a larger T.V. screen than my computer monitor.

The original footage was imported from mini dv tapes.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

What are the attributes of your encoded videos? mpeg-1 or mpeg-2, resolution, bitrate, framerate, NTSC or PAL, etc…

Well I’m at work right now so off the top of my head it was encoded and saved to my desktop from Premiere. Don’t know if it was saved as an Mpeg-1 or 2. Didn’t see that option from the Adobe Mpeg Encoder window.

The resolution was set to 720×480

    The bitrate was 7183 for 1hr, 22mins and 17seconds

The framerate is set to 29.97fps

    And it’s set to NTSC

    Thanks for the help.

Nevermind I jumped the gun and it turns out the video quality is just fine watching it on my home DVD player and television.

    Thanks.
