  Mac/PC compatibility problem

  I authored a DVD using DVD Studio Pro 3. The DVD plays on Macs–tested on G4 & G5. The DVD plays in DVD players. The DVD does not play in the two PCs I tested it with. One is a Pentium 3 desktop running Windows 98, the other is a Pentium 4 laptop running XP. The DVD will not spin up in the PCs, so it is not seen by the computers.

  Is there a setting I’m missing that will help with this compatibility issue? I used a DVD-R 4.7 disc.

  Could be the media?

  Some older generations of DVD drives can’t read the media.

  How old is old? The laptop is a 2 year-old Pentium 4. It plays other DVD commercial DVDs that I’ve tried. What would be different about the media I’m using?

  It’s the laptop drive that is the problem. Sometimes upgrade the dvd software will fix the issues.

  I know that sounds lame but its true.

  Laptop drives are known to this day to be the least compatible of all the DVD drives out there.
