DVD authoring software learning curve
ok so I’ve been reading up on all of the possible programs for dvd authoring on a pc. I’ve grown accustomed to working with dvdsp at work, but at home I have a pc. I’ve read up on on a few programs here on the forum, but was worried about the learning curve. Would anyone be able to fill me in on how these programs are to work with? thanx

What programs on the PC are you looking at? It would be easier if you provided a list so that people who know a particular program can offer their comments…
Also, what Authoring requirements do you have? In terms of flexibility and features? Do you need full navigational control with multiple audio tracks and subtitles? A builtin mpeg encoder? Other requirements?

well like ulead dvd workshop, dvd lab pro, encore, and others that people might think are good. I’m just trying to find a program that I can learn and won’t be bashing my head over the keyboard doing so… and well a built in encoder would help!

-multiple audio tracks
-builtin mpeg encoder
-Dolby Digital Audio encoding (2 channel)
-slideshow support
-burning engine
-offers CSS and Macrovision Flag setting (for adding to your DVD’s that will be sent to a replicator)DVD LabPro 1.53
-no encoder (but offers an addon external encoder at a reasonable price)
-not as many templates
-builtin burning engine is not as robust as Ulead’s — but they do offer burning software at a good price
-much steeper learning curve than DVDWSBUT, this program offers the most control and advanced navigational commands/features that are not found in most other PC packages (outside of Scenarist). IMHO, the learning curve is worth it if you plan to Author DVD’s professionally…

so if I end up purchasing dvdlab I can create the image and then use another program for burning?

Have you ever checked 3D Album software? They have a wonderful 3D program that is easy to use.
