Once a year I shoot a bunch of short music videos for wedding and function bands. They are all shot in the studio in a broadcast TV style. The client likes some above the drum kit shots, and some swooping shots of the singers etc. Last year I hired in a polecam and got some nice shots. I’m now thinking of investing in a cheaper version, probably a Hague crane and PH200 remote head.

However I’ve been thinking I might be able to pull off these kind of shots using a handheld gimbal like the CAME 7800, and think that owning that kit would be a lot more versatile for other stuff.

Can I get the shots I need using the gimbal? e.g. low along floor, sweeping up towards group to end on singers face – or above the drum kit moving down and slowly spinning etc etc.

    Any opinions much appreciated!
