  Downgrading 60 to 24?

  Hi people,

  I have a, probably the one of the most common, question. I’ve a shoot in couple of days and some specific shots I’d like to have slow motion.I was wondering if you would suggest;

  1-) Shooting at 60-720p afterwards whether put on a 24p timeline or drop it down to 24p with cinema tools/compressor (In this case, would I lose quality?)

  or

  2-) Should I shoot 24-1080p and shoot only the specific shots with 60-720p?

  I would shoot 24fps as a base and then only shoot 60fps (overcranking the camera) when needed.

  Why? Well 24p isn’t an easy conversion from 60p (60i you can use pull down) which means there will be some frame blending. This increases the time in post for the majority of the program which won’t be interpreted as slow motion. The quality of motion blur and movement will also be drastically altered.
