    Hi
I recently used the arri L-7 C on a shoot and was pretty impressed with the light. Has anyone else worked with these?
I haven’t had a chance to use them extensively or compare them to say a 1k tungsten fresnel or a 575 or 800 hmi.

I am working on collecting lighting gear to use as a gaffer working on small scale and low budget productions. I have thought about purchasing a used hmi. Since they are expensive I’ve thought about getting an older one with a magnetic ballast for now and upgrading in the future. I am wondering if it makes more sense to purchase one of these lights to use as a punchy and directional daylight source.

I am attracted to these lights because they have no flicker issues, consume very little power, are dimmable and overall very versatile.
I know that every light accomplishes a different task and there is no one “best light” However as a gaffer owning my own gear and just starting out I am trying to determine if this is a better investment than an hmi.
