  Trying to mimic this Glitter Effect(rain looking) IN CAMERA

  So I’m shooting a piece here soon and REALLY want to try to achieve the glittery effect in this video(about halfway in it starts using it on shots). Im thinking some thick glitter dropped with enough light, but not sure if anyone has done this before.

  Well I’ve never done that, but it looks like it would be easy enough to do practically… perhaps with that metallic mylar “glitter” that comes in fairly big pieces (each piece about the size of a dime, or so).

  One thing that is obvious is that the “glitter” scenes were shot with a much faster-than-normal shutter, which eliminates the motion blur and gives the glitter shots a more “sparkly” look. I’m guessing the shutter was in the 1/160th neighborhood or so.

  A lot of Andy Samberg’s “shorts” have been shot with the Panavision/Vision Research PhantomHD high-speed camera. I’m betting this one was too, considering it has a lot of nice slow-mo in it.
