  • Problems with Sony HVR-V1U stabalization modes…

I have been shooting with the new Sony HVR-V1U HD minidv cam, and it’s been working pretty well for the 6 weeks that I’ve owned it.
However, in the past few days I’ve noticed that the stabalization mode is getting messed up.

Usually, the stabalization is wonderful, making my closest telephoto shots near “shake-less” and once you get used to the process, it’s a great way to shoot some pretty impressive hand held stuff.

It’s jerking around now, however, and in the oddest moments. Like when I’m on a wide shot, and I change focus. It will just suddenly jerk the frame over, and then also when I’m on a close up and trying to get a steady hand held shot — sudden jerk of the frame. Almost like it’s jumping from “stable” to “non-stable” mode or something.

    Any suggestions out there?

IMO – it’s a technical problem possibly with that feature. Having said that I would recommend avoiding vibration reduction anyway as it degrades the image. Use a tripod next to always unless of course you have a steadicam.
