It has come to my attention, in the form of a technology news article, that some italian filmakers have indeed shot an entire movie on a cell phone.
it is called New Love Meetings.

I think we were goofing on this a while back. They used a higher end nokia cell phone camera and an occasional flashlight. what a hoot.

I don’t know about sound. Maybe they used a blutooth device on their actors.

As the Alan Parsons Project had ask, “Where do we go from here…”

Hehe, read about that. I’ve actually seen several cell phone productions being mentioned in the news lately. For the purpose of visual style, you’ll certainly get a distinct look on your footage. But if visual style is the only argument, I think I’d prefer a “better” platform, and instead mess it up in post 😉

On the other hand, for the purpose of directing and acting, I guess this extreme run’n’gun style shooting could help enhance “felt realism” for the actors on the set.

It must look kind of funny if you’re an innocent bystander watching this one guy with the cell phone chasing this other guy with the toy gun.

Google ” cell phone film festival” It’s epidemic.

And it’s proving P.T. Barnum’s point – not just the “sucker born every minute” in reference to the public’s appetite for new and unusual, but “anything half in shadow will whet the appetite and cause the public’s curiousity in the exibition to increase ten-fold.” (Barnum in reference to the poor lighting and his refusal to up the “tech” budget/expence for more gaslight for the Congress of Wonders)

I guess the operators of those devices would be called “Cellographers”?
