Activity Forums Cinematography movie file is too big

    i took a video and edited it. added a title to it and a few cross fades, then exported it as a .mov. now the movie file is 1.3 gb!!
    how did it get so big? and how can i compress the movie into a smaller .mov file?

    many time “render as” QT defaults to uncompressed ( none) on NLE’s ..
    you need to set it to use the DV codec .. some NLE’s you’ll find the setting under render as – then maybe custom – video format ( pull down window then choiose Dv ntsc or DV pal …
